Viñedos y Bodegas de la Marquesa Valserrano was founded in the second half of the 19th century, when Don Francisco Javier Solano y Eulate, the “Marqués de la Solana”, owner of a family winery and an extensive area of vineyards in Villabuena, decided—following the advice of the renowned Bordeaux winemaker of the time, Mr. Pineau—to begin producing and ageing quality wines using methods imported from the Médoc, and to sell them bottled after ageing under the brand “Marqués de la Solana”.
Soon, its wines began to receive important awards, such as the Silver Medal at the Logroño Exhibition of 1898 and the Gold Medal at the Barcelona Universal Exhibition of 1929.
